Di Linh and Dalat

So far everything went well I had to stay in Di Linh since it just got too cold to drive and I had been on the bike for 6hrs already. I had a really good time at a random Pho stall along the road though. The older people in non-touristy areas don't speak English but the kids learn a bit in school and they are really happy to talk with someone strange from a strange country far away and show how much they know. We had lots of fun and laughing. That's the kinda stuff you do not experience when you travel by bus since they always stop at the restaurant of the driver's uncle etc. And it's really cheap too.

(the red helmet saying 'NASA' with the Mickey Mouse sticker is mine btw)

So I stopped in Di Linh and literally didn't do anything since there's nothing to do around and I was totally exhausted. Still I got a pic from the valley.

View from my hotel room at dawn

After another 2hrs. of driving I reached Dalat. Once a place for rich French colonialists to spend the hot summer it is still a charming and relatively quiet town (188.000ppl). You have loads of colonial style buildings and the atmosphere of the French Alps in springtime (that's at least what the lonely planet says).

Dalat center

view from my hotel, as you may notice the weather was not the best (amazing sunset though)

shrine shop next to my hotel. Get all you spiritual needs fulfilled for cheap!

street scene

Statue in a pagoda of the goddess of grace or whatever. Awfully cheesy

If I find a place to buy a jacket I'll continue north probably and return to the coast at Hoi An via Pleiku. See you around and have fun!
